ASVAB Test Preparation

Exam Structure

The ASVAB contains nine timed subtests. Four core sections — Arithmetic Reasoning (word problems), Mathematics Knowledge (algebra and geometry), Word Knowledge (vocabulary and synonyms), and Paragraph Comprehension (reading interpretation) — form the AFQT score that determines military eligibility.

Five additional sections cover General Science, Electronics Information, Auto and Shop Information, Mechanical Comprehension, and Assembling Objects. These determine qualification for specific military occupational specialties.

The computerized ASVAB (CAT-ASVAB) is adaptive — questions become easier or harder based on your previous answers. Total completion time is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
